Daily painting featuring a beautiful ripen Bosc Pear. Also known as Golden or Alexandria, this pear is one of my favorite to paint and one of so few to have this absolutely gorgeous golden spectrum of colors. I have painted the Bosc pears before but mostly in chiaroscuro style. This is my first 6x6 painting of this pear.

I decided to do another painting of lime. The fruit is of such beautiful rich green color that mixing colors to match the actual lime is quite an interesting process, also fun and a good color mixing exercise. How many different colors were used to paint this lime? the answer is - Eleven plus white :).

Today’s painting – Fancy Pear – was done alla prima from life. The painting came out so colorful and artsy that “Fancy Pear” was about the right title :)
The texture of the actual pear ( and the way I saw this painting) was the best to render by applying paint thickly and avoiding over blending too much, leaving the brush strokes visible and preserving the colors . To me, its a happy looking little painting. It makes me smile every time I look at it :).
